Covid-19: Patient Information
Last Updated: 01.11.2020

We have now been operating under our new Covid-Secure measures since re-opening in June 2020. We have performed and regularly review a thorough risk assessment of our premises and the way we practise so we can keep our patients and staff as safe as possible. Please read the following regarding the measures we have in place.

Patient consent and screening
All patients attending the clinic for face-to-face consultations will be asked to complete Covid-19: Patient Policy Form prior to attending their first appointment back since June 2020. Where possible, the information and forms will be sent to patients via email from our clinic management software. If you do not have email access, then we will provide you with a printed copy when you arrive.

You must complete this to agree that you are happy to receive treatment at the clinic and understand that face-to face consultations are not completely risk free, in spite of the many mitigating actions we have taken to significantly reduce the risk of transmitting the coronavirus. We also will require you to confirm via the self-declaration section of the form stating that you or anyone you have been in close contact with are not currently displaying signs of the coronavirus or have had coronavirus symptoms in the past 14 days.

Increased cleaning
We have enhanced our cleaning schedules to thoroughly disinfect high touch surfaces hourly. Disinfecting of treatment tables and therapy equipment will be performed between every patient.

Reduced footfall
We have reduced and changed our schedules so that we reduce the number of appointments and practitioners that work at the same time to allow for less footfall and increased cleaning. We will ensure contact between the public remains low with the use of separate entrances and buildings (chiropractic and sports therapy only in main building, other additional therapies in the annex building).

Social distancing
We have put up signage and marked waiting areas clearly so that social distancing between the public can be maintained. We have ensured that safe distancing can be applied in our reception with one patient waiting in the designated waiting spot and one patient at the designated payment/booking spot at the reception desk.

Face Coverings
In line with government guidance that in all indoor settings face coverings should be worn, please wear a face covering when you are inside the building, unless you have a medical reason not to do so.

Arrival at the clinic for an appointment
Despite the reduced footfall and appointments, we will still make use of both entrances when necessary, in through the main front door and exit via the side door. We will require patients to arrive on their own (unless require essential assistance or under 16) and to arrive on time for their appointment and to not linger after appointments to allow for a ‘one in, one out’ flow. On arrival, please enter through the normal main front door. If you arrive early, we respectfully ask that you wait outside until just before your appointment time. Once inside the clinic you must sanitise your hands at the entrance (wall mounted dispenser) and then walk straight through to reception (please do not linger in the entrance corridor). Once in reception you may sit (or stand near) one of the assigned chairs which are cleaned hourly and spaced at greater than 2 metres apart. Please do not bring any unnecessary belongings with you.

When your chiropractor is ready for your treatment, they will take you through to the treatment room and will hold the door open for you to reduce contact on the handles. Your chiropractor will have cleaned the treatment bench and any equipment required for your treatment in preparation. You may be asked to sit straight on the treatment bench however we will still have a chair that you may use in the treatment room.

Changes to treatment
The chiropractors will be working on a case-by-case risk assessment and may choose to omit certain treatment techniques or modalities if they may increase risk. This may include performing much of the treatment in the prone position (face down) and elimination of treatments that have potential to be of higher risk, such as dry needling (medical acupuncture).

Chiropractors PPE
The chiropractors will be wearing scrubs that are cleaned and washed in line with NHS guidelines and are not worn outside of the clinic. The chiropractors will also be wearing PPE and have been trained in the correct use of PPE in line with guidance provided by the Government and British Chiropractic Association.

After your treatment
Please ensure that you allow time to ask any questions you have during your treatment as your chiropractor will need to keep to appointment times to maintain the safe and steady flow of patients in and out of the clinic. Treatments will be about 25 minutes to allow a further five minutes for re-booking and payment after your session.

Your chiropractor will take you back through to reception and you must stand on the designated spot for re-booking and payment to the side of the reception desk, as this will be >2m from the patient waiting spot should the next patient have arrived. We encourage non-cash payments at this time and we can offer contactless card payments (for regular treatments).

After booking and payment has been taken, please leave the building via the side exit (which will be marked) adhering to social distancing and to avoid meeting anyone in the front entrance. There is also another hand sanitizer station on the way out to use before exiting.
